Yinzers (or Steeler Nation fans anywhere) who hate on Tomlin

Coach Tomlin has been getting the short end of the stick from my fellow Steelers fans for YEARS!!! He’s no Bill Belichick. Nobody is. But in his 12 full seasons with the Steelers, Tomlin has never had a losing record. Not once. I look at some of my fellow Steelers fans and we’ve been pretty spoiled. The expectations are sometimes too high. You’re tired of the whole “no losing seasons” thing? Well, I’M tired of having to explain to noodle-heads how difficult that is to accomplish.

“But he had Big Ben, a Hall of Fame QB, they scream. My response is, “So, what?” Name a HOF coach who didn’t have a HOF QB. You can’t name one. If one exists, I’ll bet you had to look that crap up. Certainly having Ben Roethlisberger is a huge factor in this streak, but it doesn’t explain everything. A la Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, and Warren Moon.

Critics say, “Bring in an offensive mind as head coach.” My response is that it simply is NOT that simple. If every team did the same thing, guess how many of them would win the chip: ONE. Just like now. So, it can’t just be what side of the ball you say the coach is dominant.

Only two coaches have done what the Tomlin-haters are demanding he does: Win more than one Super Bowl since 2000. He’s been to two. And they want to replace him with some sap who hasn’t done ANY of that.

Tomlin haters: Get real and get a hobby.
