Steelers Nation!!!! It’s official, WE ARE IN A REBUILDING YEAR!!!! What hurts so bad, is that this is coming from me, an ETERNAL OPTIMIST when it comes to our Steelers. There are just to many problems and holes that not even Coach Mike Tomlin (Mr. no losing seasons) can overcome. Without naming names… Let me count the ways(reasons).

1.) Except for the first game, we have been out coached in all the other games!!! On offense as well as defense!!!

2.) There is no innovation in our offensive plays and play calling.

3.) Game plans are not developed to take advantage of the opponent’s weaknesses.

4.) “Highly thought of skilled players” are not making big plays when the opportunity is there for the taking.

5.) Players seemingly comfortable and ok with laughing and being jovial, while simultaneously being BLOWED OUT!!!!

I could go on, but these are some of the most egregious problems surrounding this team.  Now Coach T has alluded that “a change” is a coming.  We’ll see.  I don’t know many changes that could get a drastic change out of the team.  Let me suggest a few that my help.  It may not change the season around for this year, but will give us the information needed to move forward.

• Give Canada a pink slip, and send him on his way. Appoint Mike Sullivan as OC.  We also need to see what he can do in case we need to go out in off season and get an innovative mind!!!
• Let coach Brian Flores take more control over the defense. I can tell by the way we are playing that he is definitely not calling the defenses.
• Give these young guys a chance to show what they can do. Again, we need to know what we have for future reference.

• Lastly, maybe look at moving on from some players and be sellers at the trade deadline. The more draft picks we can get in the upcoming draft the better.

With all this NEGATIVITY being said(my partner Todd would be proud), I still think there is a way we can dig ourselves out of the sinkhole of a season.  All it takes is…. In the immortal words of Al Davis “JUST WIN BABY!!!”
